Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University football team lost to Widener University, 19-7 on Friday night. It was the season opener for both teams.
For the Pride, quarterback Seth Klein (so. Wernersville, PA/Wilson West Lawn) was 15 for 26 for 220 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Terrant Morrison (sr. Smyrna, DE/Smyrna) had 17 carries for 56 yards. Wide receiver Anthony Davis (sr. Upland, PA/Chester) had seven grabs for 136 yards. Wide receiver Philip Ragona (jr. Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) had three receptions for 55 yards and a TD. Tight end Haydn Warren (so. East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) caught one pass for a score.
Defensive backs Jamal Goodman (jr. Baltimore, MD/Calvert Hall) and Sean Titus (so. Lancaster, PA/Lancaster Catholic) each had two interceptions. Titus returned one 39 yards for a touchdown. Defensive lineman Stacey Sunnerville (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold) and defensive back Ameer Sorrell (sr. Port Norris, NJ/Penns Grove) had one pick apiece. Sunnerville led the team with 11 tackles, while Sorrell also recovered a fumble.

Bill McCarty (jr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was 20-of-38 for 133 yards with one touchdown. Running back
Withler Marcelin (jr. Ocean Twp., NJ/Ocean Twp.) had 24 carries for 79 yards. Wide receiver
Warren Oliver (sr. Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) caught seven passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. Linebacker
Darren Dungee (jr. Morristown, NJ/Morristown) paced the Profs with 12 tackles. Defensive lineman
Chris Alvarez (sr. Cliffside Park, NJ/Cliffside Park) tallied eight tackles and one sack. Defensive lineman
Josh Popper (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Holy Spirit) collected seven tackles, 3.5 for a loss, one sack and blocked two kicks.
The Pride struck first when Klein hit Ragona for a 13-yard touchdown with 30 seconds remaining in the opening quarter. Kicker Ryan O'Hara (jr. Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) converted the extra point. Widener made it 13-0 with 11:55 left in the second stanza. Klein found Warren for a four-yard score. The PAT attempt was blocked by Popper. Rowan ended its scoring drought in the fourth frame with 11:34 on the clock. McCarty found Oliver in the end zone with a 14-yard pass to conclude a 15-play, 72-yard drive. Kicker
Tyler Knighton (fr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) nailed the point after. Titus clinched the game for Widener with an interception for a touchdown with 3:21 to play. The extra point attempt failed.
