Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team won 5-2 against Cabrini College in the home opener on Wednesday night.

Erika Mecchella (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) each chipped in with an assist.
The Profs have a 2-0 record while the Cavaliers are 1-2 on the season. For Cabrini, forward Jen Webb (jr. Ambler, PA/Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) and midfielder Kerry Anne Farrell (jr. Drexel Hill, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) produced one goal apiece. Midfielder Kylie McDevitt (so. Narberth, PA/Lower Merion) had an assist.
Rowan registered 17 shots and Cabrini took 12. Prof goalie
Carly DeMarco (fr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) made six saves. The Cavaliers had three players share the goaltending duties. Taylor Bookman (fr. Philadelphia, PA/Little Flower) made five saves in 47:32. Melanie Carpenter (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) was in the cage for 8:20. Monica Rego (fr. Delran, NJ/Delran) had one stop in 14:08.
Rowan started the game with three straight goals. James struck first at the 54-second mark when she batted in Mecchella's shot. Browne had the next goal (11:54) on a breakway and she hit the right side of the cage. Pressler scored at 16:40 on a pass from Marini. Farrell put the Cavaliers on the scoreboard with 4:35 left in the first half.
Rowan had two more goals by Browne in the second period. The first one came at 42:30 with a feed from Pressler. She knocked in a loose ball (46:31) in front of the cage for a 5-1 advantage. Webb had the Cavaliers' final goal at 61:42 when she tipped in a shot by McDevitt.
Rowan travels to Stevenson University on Saturday, September 6 for a 7 p.m. contest.
