Box Score HAVERFORD, PA – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated Haverford College, 3-1 in the first game of the 2014 season.
 
Forward Sam Browne (jr. West Milford, NJ/West Milford) led the Profs with two goals.  Forward Jenna Pressler (so. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) contributed with one goal and one assist while forward Kellie Campbell (sr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) had an assist.  Midfielder Sarah Waldis (jr. Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) scored the Fords' lone goal.
 
The score was tied at one after the first half.  Browne put Rowan on the scoreboard at 7:31 with a pass from Pressler.  Waldis knotted the score four minutes later.  Pressler gave the Profs a 2-1 advantage at 46:16 and Campbell had the assist.  With 5:07 remaining, Browne hit the cage on a feed from midfielder Marisa Marini (jr. Carneys Point, NJ/Padua Academy (DE)). 
 
Rowan produced 19 shots and Haverford had 13.  In the Profs' cage, goalie Carly DeMarco (fr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) made seven saves in her first collegiate appearance.  For the Fords, goalie Lindsey Lopes (jr. Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) stopped nine shots.
 
Rowan hosts Cabrini College in the home opener on Wednesday, September 3 at 7 p.m.
