Box Score EWING, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team dropped its conference game at #4 The College of New Jersey, 20-5 on Tuesday night.
Attack/midfielder Ava Fitzgerald (jr. Merrick, NY/Calhoun) scored a game-high seven goals. Midfielder/attack Cortney Natalicchio (so. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) collected four goals. Attack Erin Waller (jr. Washington Twp., NJ/Washington Twp.) recorded three goals. Midfielder/defender Lauren Pigott (sr. Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) and attack Jen Garavente (sr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) added two goals apiece. Attacks Erin Healy (jr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) and Kendal Borup (jr. Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro S.) each tallied one goal. Garavente totaled three assists, Borup had two, while Waller and Pigott had one apiece.
For Rowan, Midfielders Brittany Bollendorf (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Jamie Blondina (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) each produced two goals. Attack Rachel Hofbauer (fr. Totowa, NJ/Wayne Valley) scored once.
The Profs are 7-3 overall and they have a New Jersey Athletic Conference record of 1-1. The Lions have an 11-0 mark and are 3-0 in the conference. Rowan goalie Lindsay Barrie (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) recorded nine saves. TCNJ goalkeeper Kelly Schlupp (fr. Holland, PA/Council Rock S.) had six saves in 54:52 of action. Catherine Killian (fr. Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) played the final 5:08. The Profs collected 14 shots and 12 ground balls. The Lions had 37 shots and 17 ground balls.
TCNJ jumped out to a 5-0 lead with 22:29 to play in the first half. Bollendorf scored at 8:46, but the Lions tallied five straight for a 10-1 lead (17:32). Blondina cut the deficit to 10-2 (20:01). Four unanswered goals by TCNJ extended its advantage to 14-2 (29:32). Hofbauer recorded a goal with one-second left, making the halftime score 14-3.
TCNJ scored at 31:12, but Blondina and Bollendorf produced back-to-back goals and trailed 15-5 with 21:33 on the clock. The Lions scored the final five goals of the game.
Rowan hosts Montclair State University on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
