Rowan Baseball Tops Richard Stockton, 10-2

Box Score GALLOWAY, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team picked up a 10-2 road win over Richard Stockton College Thursday afternoon.

Right-handed pitcher Andrew Lysy (so. Allentown, NJ/Allentown) earned the victory. Lysy (1-0) went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out three. Righty Ryan Adamski (so. Deptford, NJ/Deptford) took the loss. Adamski gave up five runs on four hits in 1.1 innings. Rowan improves to 12-3 overall and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Stockton is 10-7 overall with a 0-1 conference mark.

Center fielder Eric Perez (sr. Fords, NJ/Woodbridge) went three for four, stole two bases and scored a run. Right fielder Ryan Pavlik (jr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) had two hits (four at bats) and scored twice. Shortstop Ryan Williams (jr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) had three runs scored and a RBI. First baseman Casey Grimes (jr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) drove in three runs while third baseman Kevin McMenamin (jr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) and catcher Connor Grant (sr. Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Reg.) knocked in one apiece.

For the Ospreys, catcher Andy Oliver (jr. Penns Grove, NJ/Penns Grove) was two for two with a run batted in. Third baseman Brett Solomen (jr. Harrison Twp., NJ/Clearview Reg.) scored a run and had one RBI. Left fielder Keith Tappert (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) crossed the plate once.

Rowan jumped out to an 8-0 lead with three runs in both the first and second innings, followed by two in the fourth. Pavlik scored on a wild pitch, Grimes brought home Williams on a groundout and McMenamin singled in second baseman Mark Benak (sr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) in the opening frame. In the second, Pavlik and Williams both scored on a wild pitch and Grimes knocked in Benak with a RBI groundout. Left fielder Nick Kreiger (jr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) crossed the plate on a fielder's choice and Williams tallied on an error in the third.
 
The Ospreys got on the board in the fourth when Tappert scored on a fielder's choice. Oliver drove in Solomen with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to cut the deficit to six (8-2). The Profs added two insurance runs in the eighth and ninth. Grant had a RBI single followed by a Grimes run-scoring groundout.

Rowan and Richard Stockton will square off again in Glassboro on Friday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m.
