Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology, 16-8 on Wednesday night.
Midfielder Brittany Bollendorf (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) scored a career-high eight goals and added one assist. Midfielder Cat Luick (so. Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) recorded three goals and two assists. Midfielders Jamie Blondina (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.), Jess Casterline (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) and Kelly O'Brien (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) along with attacks Marissa Micciche (sr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and Rachel Emerson (so. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) each produced one goal. Blondina, O'Brien and Emerson had one assist apiece.
Profs' goalie Lindsay Barrie (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) stopped seven shots. Ducks' goalkeeper Janelle Welkie (fr. Hershey, PA/Lower Dauphin) had nine saves in 55:51 of action. Sarah Prall (sr. Lansdale, PA/North Penn) made one save in the final 4:09. Rowan recorded 29 shots and 18 ground balls. Stevens had 20 shots and collected 16 ground balls. The Profs' record is 6-2 and the Ducks have a 5-6 mark.
Attack/midfielder Erika Wilcox (so. Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W. Baker) and attack Caitlyn Hughes (jr. Randolph, NJ/Randolph) each scored three times for Stevens. Attack/midfielder Kara Rafferty (sr. Bayshore, NY/Islip) had two goals and one assist.
Rowan took a 3-0 lead with 21:39 to play in the first half. Luick scored two goals and Bollendorf one. Wilcox put Stevens on the board at the 9:52 mark. Bollendorf made the score 4-1 with 17:57 on the clock. The Ducks produced two unanswered goals to cut the deficit to 4-3 at 14:16. Wilcox and Rafferty each recorded one goal. The Profs scored the next two for a 6-3 advantage (18:47). Casterline and O'Brien had one goal apiece. Hughes made it 6-4, but Rowan scored three consecutive times for a 9-4 lead (23:45). Bollendorf collected two goals and Emerson one. Stevens scored two of the final three goals of the half for a 10-6 score at the break. Rafferty and Hughes each tallied one goal for the Ducks, while Micciche had the goal for Rowan.
Bollendorf produced two goals to give Rowan a 12-6 advantage (44:06). Wilcox scored at 45:18 to trim the lead to 12-7. The Profs then hit the back of the net three straight times to make the score 15-7 (55:51). Bollendorf had two goals and Blondina one. Hughes had a goal (57:26) and Luick completed the scoring (59:23).
Rowan begins New Jersey Athletic Conference competition on Saturday, April 5 as it travels to Kean University at 1 p.m.
