Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, PA – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team fell at Ursinus College, 10-8 on Wednesday afternoon.
Midfielder/attack Jayme Verman (fr. York, PA/Lancaster Country Day School) led Ursinus with four goals and two assists. Midfielder Devon Brakel (so. West Windsor, NJ/West-Windsor Plainsboro) recorded three goals. Midfielder Mary Deliberti (so. Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Ludlowe) scored twice and attack/midfielder Emma Ebert (fr. Philadelphia, PA/Penn Charter) produced one goal.
Attack Becca Wood (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) scored three times for Rowan. Midfielder Jamie Blondina (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) tallied two goals. Midfielders Cat Luick (so. Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) and Brittany Bollendorf (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) along with attack Marissa Micciche (sr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) scored one goal apiece.
Rowan has an overall record of 2-1 and Ursinus has a mark of 3-1. The Bears recorded 25 shots and collected 22 ground balls, while the Profs had 27 shots and 17 ground balls. Ursinus goalie Margaret Philbin (so. Danbury, CT/Ridgefield) stopped 15 shots. Goalie Lindsay Barrie (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made eight saves for Rowan.
Luick put the Profs on the scoreboard first with a goal at the 2:07 mark. Verman tied the game just 20-seconds later. Wood gave Rowan a 2-1 lead with 27:03 on the clock, but the Bears knotted the score (10:02) on a goal by Brakel off an assist by Verman. Wood put the Profs back ahead, scoring with 17:44 remaining. Ursinus then scored five unanswered goals, making the score 7-3 (22:46). Verman and Brackel each scored twice, while Deliberti recorded one. Verman assisted on Brackel's first goal and midfielder Amy Kohout (fr. West Deptford, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) on her second. Blondina and Micciche tallied back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 7-5 (29:07), but Ebert found the back of net with two-seconds on the clock to make the halftime score 8-5.
Verman and Deliberti scored to start the second session, giving the Bears a 10-5 advantage at the 41:46 mark. The Profs trimmed the advantage to 10-8 (55:54) with three straight goals as Blondina, Bollendorf and Wood each produced one.
Rowan will travel to face Immaculata University on Saturday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m.
