Women's Lacrosse Defeats Washington College (MD), 12-8

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's lacrosse team won its home opener, 12-8 over Washington College (MD) on Saturday afternoon. The Profs have a record of 2-0 while it was the first game of the season for the Shorewomen.

Attack Becca Wood (jr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) and midfielder Jamie Blondina (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) each scored three times. Midfielder Cat Luick (so. Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) had two goals. Midfielders Brittany Bollendorf (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Kelly O'Brien (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) along with attacks Rachel Emerson (so. Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and Marissa Micciche (sr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) tallied one goal apiece. Blondina and O'Brien each produced one assist.
 
For Washington, attack Caroline Lovett (jr. Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) scored three goals. Midfielders Emily Hubley (jr. West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin) and Alli Dudley (fr. New Windsor, MD/Francis Scott Key) accumulated two goals apiece. Midfielder Katherine Vincent (fr. Wilton, CT/Wilton) recorded a goal and two of assists.
 
Rowan had 36 shots and 19 groundballs, while Washington accumulated 34 shots and 15 groundballs. Goalie Lindsay Barrie (sr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made 14 saves for the Profs. Shorewomen keeper Allison Remenapp (fr. Woodbine, MD/Century) stopped nine shots in 51:26 of action. Goalie Haylee Solomon (fr. Wantagh, NJ/Sanford H. Calhoun) played the final 8:34 and had one stop.
 
Bollendorf starting the scoring at the 1:01 mark. Washington then tallied four unanswered goals for a 4-1 advantage with 15:13 left on the clock. Hubley, Vincent, Lovett and Dudley each hit the back of the net. Blondina and Luick tallied goals 1:04 apart to cut the deficit to 4-3 (17:27). Lovett recorded a goal from Vincent at 15:58 for a 5-3 lead. Wood and Blondina scored the final two goals of the half and the game was tied at five going in to the break.
 
Rowan started the second stanza with five straight goals for a 10-5 lead at the 16:23 mark. Wood produced two and Blondina, Emerson and O'Brien scored one apiece. Blondina assisted on O'Brien's tally. Lovett made the score 10-6 at 18:45. Micciche and Luick scored back-to-back goals to give Rowan a 12-6 lead at 24:57. Hubley scored from Vincent and Dudley on a free position shot 15-seconds apart to cut the Rowan advantage to 12-8 with 1:45 on the clock.

Rowan will travel to face Drew University on Wednesday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m.
