Richard Stockton Field Hockey Hangs On For 4-3 Win Over Rowan

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Richard Stockton College field hockey team held on for a 4-3 conference win over Rowan University on Tuesday night at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.

Richard Stockton started the second half with a 2-1 advantage.  The Ospreys led 4-1 after goals by forward Susie Balidemaj (sr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and midfielder Brittany Iveson (jr. Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) at 45:50 and 49:49 respectively.  Balidemaj deflected a shot by forward Colleen Knight (jr. Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) into the cage.  Iveson scored with a blast just inside the circle. 

Forward Karlee Henderson (jr. Elmer, NJ/Woodstown) made the score 4-2 with an unassisted goal at 61:23.  She scored from just inside the top of the circle.  With 4:09 left, midfielder Marisa Marini (so. Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) cut the deficit to one.  Her goal also came on a shot inside the circle on a penalty corner.
 
The Ospreys are 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  The Profs have a 3-4 record with a 0-1 conference mark.  Richard Stockton goalie Liz Stankiewicz (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) made six saves.  For Rowan, goalie Kim Pyhel (fr. Chatham, NJ/Chatham) made six stops in 48:10.  Goalie Maura Trotman (fr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) played the remainder of the game and had one save.

Forward Colleen Knight (jr. Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) put the Ospreys on the scoreboard first.  Her shot at 12:05 deflected off a Rowan defender's stick into the cage.  Midfielder Megan Irving (sr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) made the score 2-0 at 22:03 when she hit the left side of the goal on a penalty corner.  Forward Allison DiMenna (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) produced the Profs' first goal at 25:02 with an assist from forward Kellie Campbell (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson).
