Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women's soccer team shut out St. Mary's College (MD), 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. It was the Profs' sixth shutout of the season.
Back Miranda Donnian (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) led the way with two goals. She now has 33 career points, which broke the school record for most points by a defender. The old mark was 29 by Lindsay Wilson (2000-03). For her career, Donnian has totaled 14 goals and five assists.
Midfielders Lisa Cella (fr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown) and Megan Carchidi (fr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and forward Nicole Bashford (fr. Union, NJ/Union) each contributed with one goal. Forwards Tiffany Kelly (so. Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany) and Erika Suhl (jr. Brick, NJ/Brick Mem.) and midfielders/forwards Dayna Sakalsky (sr. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) and Jamie Bertoli (so. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills) all added an assist.
Rowan (7-1) totaled 18 shots while St. Mary's (1-5-2) had six. Goalies Carleigh Trivino (fr. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) and Jamie Cheeka (fr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) shared the shutout. Trivino made three saves in 80:18 and Cheeka played the remainder of the game. For the Seahawks, Sara Eaton (fr. Portland, OR/Oregon Episcopal School) stopped six shots.
All of the scoring came in the second half. Donnian scored the first two goals with the first one coming at 49:16 with a cross from Suhl. Donnian headed in the second goal off a corner at 59:15 and Sakalsky had the assist. Kelly assisted on Cella's goal at 68:47. Carchidi had a penalty kick at 71:21. Bashford scored the fifth goal at 80:18 with a pass from Bertoli.
Next week, Rowan hosts conference opponent Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, September 25 at 7 p.m.
