Field Hockey Falls to Catholic, 3-1

Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan University dropped its second straight game on Saturday night, falling to Catholic University, 3-1. Rowan is 2-2 on the season, while Catholic is 3-1 overall.

Catholic scored first at the 12:34 mark as forward Colleen Harwood (jr., Rockville, MD/Magruder) recorded an unassisted tally. The Cardinals then had a 2-0 advantage at 26:27 when midfielder Rebecca Lukaszczyk (jr., Center Valley, PA/Southern Lehigh) scored off an assist from midfielder Tara Portland (so., Fredericksburg, VA/Colonial Forge). Just over a minute later Rowan cut the deficit in half when forward Kellie Campbell (jr., Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) beat the goalie with an assist from forward Karlee Henderson (jr., Elmer, NJ/Woodstown). The game went into the break with Catholic leading 2-1.

The Cardinals got their two goal lead back early in the second half as midfielder Kim Hermann (jr., Havertown, PA/Country Day Sacred Heart) tallied an unassisted goal. Rowan had some opportunities in the final minutes, but could not score.

Rowan goalie Steph Columbo (sr., Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) made 14 saves. Catholic goalie Megan Comunale (sr., Hammonton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) stopped three shots.

Rowan returns to action on Thursday, September 17 when it hosts Stevenson University at 7 p.m.
