Women's Lacrosse Defeats Montclair State, 11-9 In Final Game Of Regular Season

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Montclair State University, 11-9 in the last game of the regular season on Wednesday night.

The Profs are 11-5 overall while the Red Hawks have a 15-4 record.  In the New Jersey Athletic Conference, Rowan finished with a 4-1 mark and Montclair State was 3-2.

Attack Becca Wood (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and midfielder Jamie Blondina (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) each scored four goals.  Blondina also had one assist.  Midfielder Shannon O’Brien (sr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) contributed with two goals.  Attack Ellen Brigham (sr. Oakton, VA/Oakton) added one goal and attack Vicky Sucharski (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) had an assist. 

Rowan totaled 26 shots and Montclair State took 24.  Profs’ goalie Lindsay Barrie (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made 12 saves.  Red Hawks’ goalie Tiffani Henderson (sr. Landing, NJ/Roxbury) stopped nine shots.

For Montclair State, midfielder Kelly Schoneveld (jr. Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) produced three goals and one assist.  Attack Kailee Beal (sr. Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) and midfielder Jenna Bussiere (so. Dayton, NJ/South Brunswick) each scored two times.  Attack Tierney Conlon (so. Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) registered one goal and one assist.  Attack Kara Crampton (fr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) tallied one goal and attack Krissa Henderson (jr. Landing, NJ/Roxbury) had an assist.

The Profs started the game with four straight goals in 9:11.  Wood hit the net two times while Blondina and O’Brien each scored once.  The Red Hawks pulled within two (4-2) at 15:36 after goals by Schoneveld and Beal.  Rowan followed with a 5-0 run to lead 9-2.  Blondina and Wood each produced two goals and Brigham had one.  Beal and Schoneveld both scored one goal and Rowan was ahead 9-4 at the half. 

In the second stanza, Schoneveld and Conlon each had a goal, which cut the deficit to three (9-6) at 35:47.  O’Brien scored on a free position (41:50).  Bussiere and Crampton had one goal apiece and the Red Hawks trailed 10-8.  Blondina made the score 11-8 at 55:03.  Bussiere had the last goal of the game.
