Wood Scores 100th Career Goal as Rowan Women's Lacrosse Defeats Drew, 19-11

GLASSBORO, NJ – Becoming just the 16th player in school history to reach 100 career goals, attack Becca Wood’s game high seven-goal performance propelled the Rowan University women’s lacrosse team to a 19-11 victory over Drew University on Tuesday night at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
 
With the win, the Profs improve to 6-5 on the season while the Rangers are 4-7 overall. Wood’s (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) seven goals and two assists set the tone for the Profs. Midfielder Jamie Blondina (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) found the back of the net four times and attacks Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and Vicky Sucharski (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) added three apiece. Attacks Colleen Nauss (jr. Hilltop, NJ/Paul VI) and Chelsey Taggart (fr. Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) rounded out the scoring as both chipped in with one.
 
Drew was led by attack Nikki Kleiman (so. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) with six goals. Midfielder Krysta Cento (so. Garden City, NY/Garden City) posted three goals and midfielder Brooke Gagliano (jr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) had two. Getting the win in net and improving to 3-0 on the season was goalkeeper Mary Narozanick (fr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) while goalkeeper CC Carlini (jr. Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) was handed the loss.

Rowan outshot the Rangers, 40-25, and held an advantage in draw controls, 25-7. The Profs also held Drew to just 17 clears on 28 attempts while converting 11 of its 14.
 
Blondina started the scoring just 1:19 into action on a free position shot before Drew went on a 3-1 run to take a 3-2 early advantage 10 minutes in. From there, the Profs exploded on a 12-2 spurt over the remaining 20 minutes of the first half. Wood was responsible for five throughout the span and Blondina had three. Micciche and Sucharski each netted two goals in the opening half as the Profs built a commanding 14-5 lead.
 
Wood went right back to work in the second half, scoring her sixth and seventh in the opening six minutes to reach the 100-goal milestone and make the score 16-6. The Rangers would go on to outscore Rowan 5-3 in the final 24 minutes but it was not enough as the Profs took the 19-11 win.

Next up, Rowan will host Kean University on Tuesday, April 16 at 6 p.m.
