GALLOWAY, NJ – The Rowan University baseball team lost at conference opponent Richard Stockton College, 6-1 on Monday. The game was rescheduled from Friday, April 5.
The Ospreys improve to 13-12 overall and 1-5 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs have a 13-9 record with a 2-4 conference mark. In the first meeting this season, Rowan defeated Richard Stockton, 9-7 (Apr. 4).
Left-hander Adam Warburton (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) threw all nine innings for the win. Warburton (3-2) scattered nine hits and gave up one earned run. Right-hander Carlos Ruiz (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) took the loss. He (1-1) went 4.2 innings and allowed two earned runs.
Third baseman Travis Marra (jr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River E.) led Richard Stockton with two hits (four at bats), two RBIs and one run scored. Center fielder Mike Bush (jr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.) totaled three hits in five at bats and scored one run. Designated hitter Shawn Kessler (sr. Bayville, NJ/Central Reg.) contributed with two hits (three at bats), a triple, one RBI and one run scored. Right fielder George Eisenhart (so. Harrison Twp., NJ/Clearview Reg.) and shortstop Mark Jankowski (so. Washington Twp., NJ/Washington Twp.) each chipped in with one hit and one RBI. Left fielder Barry Larro (sr. Cedarville, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) scored two runs.
For Rowan, right fielder Nick Kreiger (so. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) was three for four with one run scored. Second baseman Mark Benak (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) registered two hits (four at bats) and one double. Catcher Stephen Petriello (fr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) produced one RBI.
Rowan is on the road again at Elizabethtown College on Tuesday, April 9 at 4 p.m.
