CHESTER, PA – The Rowan University baseball team had a 6-4 loss at Widener University on Tuesday afternoon. 

The Profs are 25-11 overall while the Pride is 17-18 on the season.  Right-hander Brandon McCloskey (sr. Belford, NJ/Middletown N.) was the winning pitcher.  He (3-2) threw six innings and gave up four runs, three earned.  Righty Marc Noyalis (so. Dallas, PA/Dallas) earned his second save.  Right-hander Mike Behar (sr. Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) took the loss.  He (2-1) allowed four hits and two earned runs. 

At the plate, Noyalis was two for three with a double and two RBIs.  Center fielder Sam Christie (jr. Upper Darby, PA/Monsignor Bonner) contributed with one hit, one RBI and one run scored.  Second baseman Kyle Summers (jr. Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) produced a double, one RBI and one run scored.  Right fielder Colin Weiss (jr. Red Hill, PA/Upper Perkiomen) was two for two at the plate.  Shortstop Josh Everett (so. Harveys Lake, PA/Lake-Lehman) added one hit and one run scored.  Right fielder Alec O’Dell (fr. Edgewood, MD/Bayard Rustin) scored one run.

For Rowan, third baseman Kevin McMenamin (so. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) registered two hits (four at bats) and one RBI.  Center fielder Eric Perez (jr. Fords, NJ/Woodbridge) had one hit and two RBIs.  Second baseman Mark Benak (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) contributed with two hits.  Right fielder Scott Bruno (jr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) and first baseman Sean Kelly (sr. North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) each added one hit and one run scored.  Catcher Stephen Petriello (fr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) had one hit, one RBI and one run scored.

Widener went ahead 6-0 after scoring one run in the first inning and five in the second.  Rowan got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning.  McMenamin’s single to left field scored Kelly, who led off with a base hit through the right side.  Petriello crossed the plate on a single by Perez.  The Profs scored one run in the fifth and sixth innings.  Petriello had a sacrifice fly in the fifth, scoring Bruno.  In the sixth, designated hitter Casey Grimes (so. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) came home on a ground out with Perez at bat.
