YORK, PA – Center fielder Eric Perez scored the winning run in the 10th inning for the Rowan University baseball team in a 7-6 victory at York College on Monday. 

Right fielder Eric Sellitto (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) had a fielder’s choice, which scored Perez (jr. Fords, NJ/Woodbridge).  With one out, Perez singled through the left side and he went to third on shortstop Ryan Williams’ (so. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) base hit down the right field line.

Right-hander Christian Rahman (sr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) was the winning pitcher and righty Brian Sietsma (jr. Mahwah, NJ/Eastern Christian) earned the save.  Right-hander Mike Sarecky had the loss.  He gave up three hits and one earned run in two innings.  The Profs are 25-10 overall while the Spartans have a 19-18 record.

Sellitto ended the game with one hit, three RBIs and one run scored.  Designated hitter Casey Grimes (so. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) contributed with three hits (five at bats) and two RBIs.  Perez totaled three hits (four at bats) and scored two runs.  First baseman Sean Kelly (sr. North Bergen, NJ/North Bergen) chipped in with three hits (five at bats), a double, one RBI and one run scored.  Williams went two for five with a double and one run scored.  Second baseman Mark Benak (jr. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) added two hits, one double, one RBI and one run scored.

For York, third baseman Justin Cohen went three for six with a double and one RBI.  Second baseman Dustin Worthman produced three hits in five at bats and scored two runs.  Designated hitter Colbe Herr registered two hits (five at bats), one RBI and one run scored.  Right fielder Drew Frankenfield tallied a double, two RBIs and one run scored.  Shortstop Colin Porter added one hit and one RBI.  Catcher Russ Patti and left fielder Jimmy King had three and two hits respectively.  King also scored one run.

The Spartans led 3-0 after the first inning.  Rowan pulled within one after two runs in the third.  Williams led off with a double and came home on a single by Benak.  Grimes drove in Benak with a single to center field.  The Profs took the lead 5-3 in the fourth inning.  Sellitto knocked in two runs with a single through the left side.  Kelly’s base hit up the middle scored Sellitto.

In the seventh, Kelly had a double to right field and he later crossed the plate on a single up the middle by Grimes.  York tied the score at six with three runs in the eighth inning. 

Rowan travels to Widener University on Tuesday, April 23 for a 3:30 p.m. game.
