Women's Lacrosse Defeats Rutgers-Camden, 20-7

GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 20-7 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

Attack Becca Wood (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) led the way with eight goals.  Midfielder Jamie Blondina (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) contributed with five goals and three assists.  Attack Vicky Sucharski (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) registered three goals and two assists.  Attack Ellen Brigham (sr. Oakton, VA/Oakton) and defender Lauren Callaghan (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) each chipped in with two goals.  Attack Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) produced three assists and midfielder Brittany Bollendorf (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) had one.

Rowan improves to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference.  Rutgers-Camden has a 6-8 record with a 0-4 NJAC mark.  Goalies Lindsay Barrie (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Mary Narozanick (fr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) made four and one save respectively with each playing a half.  Rutgers-Camden goalie Morgan-Rae Hampton (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) stopped seven shots.  The Profs totaled 38 shots while the Scarlet Raptors had 17.

Midfielder/attack Samantha Gregg (jr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) scored three goals for Rutgers-Camden.  Midfielder Elizabeth LaBar (so. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) collected two goals while defender Traven Harris (fr. Owings Mills, MD/Western School of Technology and Environmental Science) and midfielder Maddie Reiss (so. Audubon, NJ/Paul VI) each had one.

The score was tied at one in the first half after Harris scored (1:32).  Rowan followed with seven straight goals in a span of 20 minutes.  Wood hit the net five times and Blondina twice.  Gregg made the score 8-2 at 21:42.  Blondina (24:24) and Brigham (25:24) scored one minute apart.  LaBar had two goals and the Scarlet Raptors trailed 10-4.  Wood scored two more times, which ended the period. 

The Profs started the second stanza with eight unanswered goals for a 20-4 advantage.  Sucharski, Blondina and Callaghan scored two goals apiece.  Brigham and Wood each added one.  Rutgers-Camden had two goals by Gregg and one from Reiss to end the game.

Next week, Rowan travels to Catholic University on Wednesday, April 24 for a 6 p.m. game.
