Women's Lacrosse Defeats Ramapo, 19-9 For First Conference Win

MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated conference opponent Ramapo College, 19-9 on Friday.  Attack Becca Wood (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.)  led the Profs with seven goals.

Rowan is 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.  The Profs have a five-game win streak.  The Roadrunners have a 1-7 record with a 0-3 conference mark.

Midfielder Jamie Blondina (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) contributed with four goals and one assist.  Attacks Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and Vicky Sucharski (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) each chipped in with three goals.  Midfielder Brittany Bollendorf (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) added two goals and attack Colleen Nauss (jr. Hilltop, NJ/Paul VI) had one assist.

Rowan compiled 52 total shots while the Roadrunners took 15.  Goalie Lindsay Barrie (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made one save in 39:45 and goalie Mary Narozanick (fr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca) stopped two shots in 20:15.  For Ramapo, goalie Reagan Vier (so. Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah) turned away 20 shots. 

Ramapo attack Lindsay Hughes (fr. Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley) produced five goals and one assist.  Defender Amanda Ferry (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) tallied one goal and two assists.  Midfielders Lauren Schmidt (fr. Emerson, NJ/Bergen County Academies) and Teresa Gustafson (so. South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) and attack Danisleydis Hernandez (so. Mt. Olive, NJ/Mt. Olive) all scored one goal. 

The Profs started the game with six straight goals in 14:28.  Blondina hit the net two times while Wood, Sucharski, Micciche and Bollendorf each had one goal.  Hughes put Ramapo on the scoreboard at 15:41.  The Profs added three more to lead 9-1 at 21:31.  Bollendorf, Micciche and Sucharski had one goal apiece.  The Roadrunners trailed by six (9-3) then the Profs scored three times for a 12-3 advantage.  Blondina, Wood and Micciche each produced a goal.  Hughes ended the half with two goals.  Rowan was ahead 12-5 at the intermission.

Wood opened the second period with goals at 30:46 and 32:54.  Sucharski scored then Wood had a free position goal to lead 16-7 at 39:45.  Wood’s seventh goal came at 48:37 and Blondina followed with the final goal of the game at 50:11.
