RADNOR, PA – Attack Becca Wood scored eight goals to lead the Rowan University women’s lacrosse team over Cabrini College, 19-12 on Wednesday night.
The Profs are 1-3 on the season while the Cavaliers are 0-2 overall. Midfielder Jamie Blondina (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) contributed with five goals and one assist. Defender Brittany Bollendorf (fr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) chipped in with three goals and attack Marissa Micciche (jr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) added two. Attack Vicky Sucharski (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) produced one goal and two assists while defender Lauren Callaghan (jr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) had an assist.
For Cabrini, attack/midfielder Lacie Doubet (so. Swarthmore, PA/Ridley) scored five goals. Attack Katie Lasater (fr. Malvern, PA/Great Valley) collected two goals. Attack/midfielders Sara Carzo (so. Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) and Christina Pasquariello (sr. Gladwyne, PA/Harriton) registered one goal and two assists apiece. Attack Sarah Means (jr. Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) tallied one goal and one assist. Defender Bree Thompson (jr. Essington, PA/Interboro) and attack/midfielder Melissa Scanzano (so. Havertown, PA/Havertown) each had one goal.
The Profs took 30 shots while the Cavaliers posted 29. In Rowan’s goal, Lindsay Barrie (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made nine saves. Goalie Janel Folkomer (jr. Springfield, PA/Springfield (Delco)) stopped eight shots for Cabrini.
Cabrini started the game with two straight goals. Doubet and Thompson scored at 4:31 and 4:44 respectively. Rowan responded with 10 unanswered goals to lead by eight (10-2) at 20:16. Wood (so. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and Blondina both produced three goals while Bollendorf followed with two. Micciche and Sucharski each hit the net one time. The two teams exchanged goals before the Cavaliers ended the period with three more and trailed 11-6 at the intermission. Doubet and Blondina each posted one goal before Scanzano, Carzo and Means all had one.
In the second half, the Profs led 16-6 at 41:24 after three goals by Wood and one apiece from Micciche and Blondina. Cabrini pulled within eight goals (16-8) after Pasquariello and Lasater scored. Wood’s seventh and eighth goals came at 47:26 and 48:45 while in between Doubet scored at 47:45. Bollendorf had the Profs’ final goal (50:24). The Cavaliers ended the game with a goal by Lasater and two from Doubet.
Next, Rowan plays at home against Ursinus College on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m.
