Field Hockey Falls At The College Of New Jersey, 6-1 In NJAC Semifinal Game

Box Score EWING, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team suffered a 6-1 loss at The College of New Jersey in the semifinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship Tournament on Wednesday night.

The Lions (16-3), the second seed, play at the top seed Montclair State University (19-1) on Saturday, November 9 at 1 p.m. in the championship game.  The NJAC champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. 

In the other semifinal, Montclair State shut out Richard Stockton College, 3-0.  Rowan (11-7) was seeded third in the NJAC tournament while Stockton (12-7) was the fourth seed.

The Profs' goal was scored by forward Johanna James (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) at 8:37.  TCNJ followed with three straight goals to end the half.  Forward/midfielder Lindsey Hatch (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) (11:29), forward Erin Healy (jr. Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) (15:45) and midfielder Victoria Martin (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) (16:55) all hit the cage one time.

The Lions added three more goals in the final period.  Hatch registered her second goal at 36:07.  Back Marissa Pennypacker (jr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) scored at 40:36 with an assist from forward Danielle Andreula (fr. New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt).  Hatch had the final goal at 56:07 and midfielder Jaclyn Douglas (fr. Malvern, PA/Great Valley) had the assist.

TCNJ goalie Amanda Krause (jr. Richboro, PA/Council Rock N.) had four saves.  Rowan goalie Steph Colombo (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) stopped nine shots. 

The bracket for the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament will be announced in the evening on Sunday, November 10.
