Box Score GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team won 4-1 over Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday afternoon.
The Profs are 9-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Cougars have a 13-3 record with a 2-3 NJAC mark. Forwards Allison DiMenna (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro), Amy McKeever (sr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) and Johanna James (so. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) and back Erika Mecchella (jr. Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester) all scored one goal. Midfielder Jenna O'Sullivan (jr. Sickerville, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) contributed with one assist.
Midfielder Korri Thompson (sr. Somerville, NJ/Somerville) had Kean's goal with an assist from forward Stephanie Sores (sr. Berkeley Heights, NJ/Governor Livingston). Rowan goalie Steph Colombo (sr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) made five saves. Cougar goalie Katie DiCarlo (so. Shamong, NJ/Seneca) stopped four shots.
The score was tied at one after the first half. Thompson put Kean on the scoreboard at 1:10. She hit the cage with a shot just inside the top of the circle on a penalty corner by Soars. At 17:52, DiMenna knocked in a loose ball during a scramble in front of the goal.
McKeever gave the Profs a 2-1 advantage 26 seconds into the final period. She hit the left side of the cage with a shot from five yards out. Mecchella's blast from outside the circle bounced off DiCarlo and went into the net at 37:54. James redirected a shot by O'Sullivan at 42:11 for the last goal.
Next, Rowan travels to Ramapo College on Tuesday, October 29 for a 4 p.m. conference game.
