Field Hockey Falls At Fifth Ranked Messiah, 2-0

GRANTHAM, PA – The fifth ranked Messiah College field hockey team won 2-0 over visiting Rowan University on Saturday.   

The Falcons are undefeated with a 3-0 record while the Profs are 1-2 overall.  Messiah scored both goals in the first half.  Forward Heather Quirk (so. Schuylerville, NY/Schuylerville) had the first one at 13:59.  In front of the Rowan cage, she tapped the ball in during a scramble.  At  23:28, midfielder Kelly Martin (sr. Lititz, PA/Ephrata) scored with assists from forward Brooke Sands (jr. Lancaster, PA/Schuylkill Valley) and forward Juliana Hershey (sr. Smoketown, NJ/Lancaster Mennonnite) after a penalty corner.

Messiah collected 19 shots and Rowan had five.  Goalie Molly Gebrosky (jr. Latrobe, PA/Milton Hershey) recorded her second shutout of the season.  For the Profs, goalie Jen Goldberg (sr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) stopped five shots in 25:50.  Goalie Steph Colombo (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) made five saves in 44:10.

Next, Rowan plays at home against FDU-Florham on Thursday, September 13 at 7 p.m.
