Field Hockey Defeats Richard Stockton, 4-2

GALLOWAY, NJ – Forward Kellie Campbell scored three goals to lead the Rowan University field hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Richard Stockton College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Monday night.

The Profs improve to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.  The Ospreys have a 1-7 record with a 0-2 NJAC mark.  Rowan trailed 2-1 after the first half.  Campbell (so. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) scored on a pass from midfielder Marisa Marini (fr. Carneys Point, NJ/Padua Academy (DE)) at 37:30 to tie the game (2-2).  Midfielder Karlee Henderson (so. Elmer, NJ/Woodstown) stole the ball from a defender and shot it into the cage at 60:03 to put the Profs on top, 3-2.  Campbell’s third goal at 68:56 came on a penalty stroke.  It was her sixth goal of the season.

Forward Brittany Iveson (so. Barnegat, NJ/Barnegat) scored on a feed from midfielder Alicia Leadbeater (jr. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) to give the Ospreys a 1-0 lead at 3:56 in the first period.  On a breakaway, midfielder Marianne Myers (fr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) sent a pass to midfielder Katie Carpenter (jr. Egg Harbor City, NJ/Absegami), who hit the back of the cage at 14:24 for a 2-0 advantage.  Campbell scored on a one-timer from inside the circle at 21:02 to bring the Profs within one (2-1).  Henderson picked up the assist.

Rowan took 19 shots, while Richard Stockton had 11.  Profs’ goalie Steph Colombo (jr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) played the first 14:24.  Goalie Jen Goldberg (sr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) made four saves in the final 55:36.  Ospreys’ goalie Sara Winters (so. Blackwood, NJ/Triton Reg.) turned away 10 shots.

Rowan hosts Eastern University on Thursday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
