MADISON, NJ – Midfielder Michelle Lubrano scored the winning goal for the Rowan University women’s lacrosse team in a 14-13 victory against Drew University on Saturday afternoon.
Lubrano (sr. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) recorded the game-winner with three seconds left. She ended the game with seven goals. The Profs improve to 5-6 overall while the Rangers are 5-7 on the season.
Rowan attack Becca Wood (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) contributed with three goals while attack Marissa Micciche (so. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) had two. Midfielder Jamie Blondina (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) chipped in with one goal and two assists. Defender Lauren Callaghan (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) had one goal.
For Drew, midfielder Lyndsay Rossi (sr. Pennington, NJ/Pennington School) totaled four goals and two assists. Attack Aileen Musynske (sr. Floral Park, NJ/Floral Park Mem.) hit the net three times and midfielder Krysta Cento (fr. Garden City, NY/Garden City) scored twice. Attack Nikki Kleiman (fr. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) produced two goals and one assist. Midfielders Jess Johnson (so. Gilbertsville, PA/Boyertown Senior) and Lindsay Fry (sr. Mountain Lakes, NJ/Morristown Beard) each added one goal while midfielder Devon Affleck (jr. Abington, PA/Abington) had one assist.
Drew took 33 shots and Rowan had 29. In the Rangers’ goal, Christiana Carlini (so. Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) made eight saves. Goalie Lindsay Barrie (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) played the first half for the Profs and stopped five shots. In the second half, goalie Kerry Pehnke (sr. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) turned away nine shots.
Rowan was ahead 10-9 going into the second half. Kleiman tied the score at 31:19 with an assist from Rossi. Lubrano (41:36) and Johnson (43:30) exchanged goals and the score was tied at 11. The Profs led 13-11 after goals by Lubrano (47:12) and Wood (48:56). The Rangers answered with two straight, which made the score 13-13. Musynske had the first goal (51:15) and Rossi had the second (53:39) on a pass from Affleck. Lubrano’s winning goal unassisted (59:57) was her 47th on the season.
Next week, Rowan travels to Eastern University on Thursday, April 12 for a 4 p.m. game.
