ST. DAVIDS, PA – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Eastern University, 20-11 in a nonconference game on Thursday afternoon.

The Profs have a 6-6 record, while the Eagles are 4-7.  Attack Marissa Micciche (so. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) led Rowan with six goals.  Attacks Becca Wood (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and Vicky Sucharski (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) both registered four goals and two assists.  Midfielder Michelle Lubrano (sr. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) tallied two goals and two assists.  Midfielder Jamie Blondina (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) added one goal and three assists.  Defender Lauren Callaghan (so. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) and attacks Caitlin Ravel (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Colleen Nauss (so. Hilltop, NJ/Paul VI) all found the net once.  Midfielder Shannon O’Brien (jr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) dished one assist.

For Eastern, attack Allie Fultz (sr. Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) and midfielder Allie Gauthier (so. Barkhamsted, CT/The Masters School) posted three goals apiece.  Midfielder Courtney Reinhold (sr. Adamstown, PA/Cocalico) compiled two goals and two assists.  Midfielder Kendall Rood (jr. Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks E.) contributed with one goal and one assist.  Midfielders Julia Furniss (Severna Park, MD/Annapolis Area Christian) and Jocelyn Paul (fr. North Easton, MA/Oliver Ames) each scored once.  Attack Emmy Fisher (so. Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg Area) picked up one assist.

Rowan took 42 shots, while Eastern had 27.  Profs’ goalie Kerry Pehnke (sr. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) made four saves in the first half.  Goalie Lindsay Barrie (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) stopped four shots in the second period.  Eagles’ goalies Lindsey Corbitt (jr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingwood) and Kristy Getsay (sr. Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin E.) both played one stanza and turned away four shots apiece.

Blondina’s goal at 1:16 put Rowan ahead, 1-0.  Fultz tied the game at the two minute mark and Reinhold had the assist.  Micciche recorded two straight goals at 4:47 and 6:11.  Paul’s goal at 8:49 cut the deficit to one (3-2).  Wood (9:25) and Micciche (9:41) both scored a goal to extend the lead to 5-2.  Eastern came within one (5-4) after goals by Reinhold (10:46) and Fultz (13:08).  Wood answered with two goals (14:54, 18:36) and Micciche had one (18:47) to make the score, 8-4.  Furniss registered an unassisted goal at 19:51.  The Profs scored the next five goals to push the advantage to eight (13-5).  Sucharski hit the net three times (21:29, 23:45, 29:42), while Lubrano (22:15) and Callaghan (23:30) both had one goal.  Reinhold’s goal with three seconds remaining made the score, 13-6 at the intermission.

The Profs were up, 14-6 after Wood’s unassisted goal at 36:19 in the second period.  Gauthier found the net at 37:09.  Rowan tallied three consecutive goals by Sucharski (39:24), Ravel (40:35) and Micciche (42:28).  Fultz (45:37) and Micciche (47:20) exchanged goals.  Rood knocked in a pass from Fisher at 49:37 to bring the Eagles within nine (18-9).  Lubrano picked up an unassisted goal at 51:02 and Nauss converted a free position shot at 53:26.  Gauthier collected two straight goals (56:35, 58:19) to close out the game.

Rowan hosts Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
