GLASSBORO, NJ – Attack Leigh Ann Flounlacker scored five goals to lead Elizabethtown College to a 13-9 win over Rowan University in a nonconference game on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Jays improve to 5-3, while the Profs have a 3-4 record. Elizabethtown midfielder Kara Solesky (jr. Parkville, MD/Mercy) registered two goals. Attacks Becky Porter (jr. Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) and Emily Butler (jr. Finksburg, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) both tallied one goal and one assist. Attacks Andrea Russo (fr. York, PA/Spring Grove) and Michele Grosso (so. Aston, PA/Sun Valley) and midfielders Caitlin Knight (fr. Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and Katie Reeb (so. Hershey, PA/Hershey) all found the net once. Attack Madalyn Schnader (so. Ocean City, NJ/Stephen Decator) posted three assists. Midfielder Katie Scheurich (sr. Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) dished one assist.
For Rowan, midfielder Michelle Lubrano (sr. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) totaled five goals and one assist. Attack Vicky Sucharski (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) added two goals. Attacks Becca Wood (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and Marissa Micciche (so. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) contributed with one goal apiece. Midfielder Jamie Blondina (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) collected two assists.
Elizabethtown took 27 shots and Rowan had 25. Blue Jays’ goalie Rachael Waldman (jr. Belmar, NJ/Academy of Allied Health & Science) made 11 saves. Profs’ goalie Lindsay Barrie (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) also turned away 11 shots.
Solesky put Elizabethtown up, 1-0, 13 seconds into the game. Scheurich picked up the assist. Sucharski found the net on a feed from Lubrano at 1:14 to tie the game. The Blue Jays scored the next three goals for a 4-1 advantage at 5:38. Porter had the first goal (1:43) and Flounlacker (fr. Ocean City, MD/Stephen Decatur) followed with two straight (2:21, 5:38). Micciche and Lubrano posted back-to-back goals at 7:08 and 10:17 respectively to cut the deficit to one (4-3). Blondina assisted on both.
Elizabethtown went on a 4-0 run to pull ahead, 8-3 at 27:18. Flounlacker (12:52), Reeb (22:49), Grosso (24:25) and Russo (27:18) all hit the net once. Lubrano had an unassisted goal at 28:39. Flounlacker’s fourth goal came with 35 seconds left in the period, giving the Blue Jays a 9-4 halftime lead.
Lubrano brought the Profs within four (9-5) with an unassisted goal at 32:29 in the second stanza. Knight answered with a goal at 33:22. Lubrano converted a free position attempt at 34:06. Butler scored on a pass from Schnader at 35:07 for a five point advantage (11-6). Wood (37:11) and Sucharski (39:52) each had an unassisted goal and Rowan trailed by three (11-8). Flounlacker added a goal at 50:43 and Porter earned the assist. Solesky tacked on a goal at 57:08 with an assist from Butler. Lubrano had a free position goal with 16 seconds remaining.
