COLLEGEVILLE, PA – Midfielder Michelle Lubrano scored six goals to lead the Rowan University women’s lacrosse team over Ursinus College, 14-10 on Thursday afternoon. 

Attack Becca Wood (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and midfielder Jamie Blondina (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River S.) each contributed with three goals and one assist.  Attack Marissa Micciche (so. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) chipped in with one goal and three assists.  Attack Colleen Nauss (so. Hilltop, NJ/Paul VI) added one goal while attacks Vicky Sucharski (so. Cinnaminson, NJCinnaminson) and Ellen Brigham (jr. Oakton, VA/Oakton) had one assist apiece.

The Profs are 3-3 overall while the Bears have a 4-3 record.  Ursinus was led by attack Emily Diehl (sr. Lebanon, NJ/Voorhees) with four goals and one assist.  Midfielder Alyssa Thren (sr. Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) hit the net twice.  Attack Kim Peifer (sr. Collegeville, PA/Methacton), midfielders Nicole Kovacs (so. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), Kitty Dawson (fr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and Taylor Egolf (jr. Wynnewood, PA/Lower Merion) all produced one goal.  Midfielder Megan Horney (jr. Newark, DE/St. Mark’s) had one assist.

Rowan totaled 30 shots and Ursinus took 26.  Profs’ goalie Lindsay Barrie (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) stopped 13 shots.  For the Bears, goalies Riley Pembroke (so. Great Falls, VA/Langley) and Alexandra Duch (fr. Wyckoff, NJ/Ramapo) made five and three saves respectively.

Thren scored the first goal of the game at 2:16.  The Profs followed with nine straight goals.  Wood found the net three times while Lubrano (sr. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) and Blondina collected two apiece.  Micciche and Nauss both scored once.  Thren and Diehl each hit the Profs’ goal once and the Bears trailed  9-3.  Lubrano (29:15) and Diehl (29:55) exchanged goals to end the half.  Rowan was ahead 10-4.

Lubrano started the second period with two consecutive goals (32:44, 34:56).  Ursinus made the score 12-7 after two goals from Diehl (35:10, 45:48) and one by Dawson (38:18).  Blondina had a free position goal (46:37) and Lubrano’s sixth goal (50:15) was unassisted.  The Bears ended the game with goals by Egolf (54:33), Kovacs (58:19) and Peifer (59:35).    

Rowan plays at home on Saturday, March 24 against Elizabethtown College at 1 p.m.
