FLORHAM, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team shut out host FDU-Florham, 5-0 on Thursday night. The Profs, ranked 10th in the nation, are 4-2 overall.

Midfielder Erin Bernat (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) led the way with two goals. Forwards Rachael Dix (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) and Brittany Phillips (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Delsea Reg.) and back Amy McKeever (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) all scored one time. Forwards Julie Cairone (sr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Katie Griffis (jr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Phillips registered one assist apiece.

Rowan totaled 21 shots while FDU-Florham (3-2) had five. Goalie Tess Loughran (so. Newton, NJ/Newton) made five saves in 50:28 for the Devils. Goalie Jaime Unkel (so. Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville) stopped four shots in 19:32. In the Profs’ cage, Jen Goldberg (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) collected three saves in 50:39. Goalie Lisa Apt (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) played 19:21 and had one save.

Phillips had the lone goal in the first half at 15:21. She knocked in a rebound off the post. McKeever scored unassisted at 41:21. Rowan’s third goal came on a penalty corner at 46:35. Dix hit the cage on a pass from Griffis. Both of Bernat’s goals came on penalty corners at 50:28 and 64:13. The first was assisted by Cairone and Phillips connected on the second.

Rowan plays at home on Saturday, September 17 against 11th ranked Catholic University at 1 p.m.
