GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Eastern University, 17-6 in a nonconference game on Thursday night.

Rowan has a 6-5 record, while Eastern is 4-6. The Profs were led by midfielder Michelle Lubrano (jr. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) with three goals and two assists. Midfielder Alli Dickey (sr. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) added three goals and one assist. Attacks Vicky Sucharski (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Trish Harrington (sr. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) each found the net three times, while defender Nicole Valianti (sr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) totaled one goal and two assists.

Defender Shannon O’Brien (so. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) compiled one goal and one assist. Attacks Ellen Brigham (so. Oakton, VA/Oakton) and Leah Hershey (sr. Glen Rock, PA/Susquehannock) and defender Tara Dinn (sr. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) all scored once. Attack Caitlin Ravel (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) picked up one assist.

For the Eagles, attack Christy Hild (so. Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby) registered three goals. Attack/midfielder Grace Griffith (sr. Amherst, MA/Amherst Reg.) tallied one goal and one assist. Attack/midfielder Kelly Dando (jr. West Chester, PA/Henderson) and midfielder Kendall Rood (so. Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks E.) scored one goal apiece. Midfielder/defender Lindsey Moosey (sr. Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) dished one assist.

Rowan took 30 shots, while Eastern had 15. Goalie Lindsay Barrie (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made seven saves in the Profs’ net. Eagles’ goalie Lindsey Corbitt (so. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) stopped six shots.

Sucharski put Rowan ahead, 1-0 with an unassisted goal at 2:06 in the first period. She scored her second goal with an assist from Valianti at 8:23. Harrington’s unassisted goal at 9:29 extended the lead to 3-0. Hild found the net on a pass from Moosey at 13:27 and the Eagles trailed by two (3-1). The Profs had two goals in a 14 second span by Sucharski (16:17) and Dickey (16:31) to go up 5-1. Griffith’s goal at 19:56 cut the deficit to three (5-2). Rowan ended the half with four straight goals. Lubrano scored twice, while Valianti and Hershey added one goal apiece. Rowan had a 9-2 advantage at the intermission.

Harrington recorded a free position goal at 33:36 in the second period. O’Brien (37:03) and Lubrano (38:20) both had an unassisted goal and the lead was 10 (12-2). Hild’s second goal came at 40:49. Dickey scored at 45:04 on a feed from Ravel.

Dando and Rood collected goals at 46:01 and 47:28 respectively. Harrington put back a pass from Lubrano at 54:14. Hild registered her third goal with 2:05 remaining. Dinn found the net with 17 seconds left and Dickey’s final goal came as time expired.

Rowan travels to the University of Scranton on Saturday, April 16 for a 3:30 p.m. game.
