GLASSBORO, NJ – Top ranked The College of New Jersey defeated host Rowan University, 20-2 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Tuesday night.

The Lions improve are undefeated with a 13-0 record and 4-0 in the conference. The Profs are 5-5 overall with a 1-1 NJAC mark. Midfielder Ali Jaeger (sr. Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) totaled five goals and five assists. Midfielder Leigh Mitchell (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) compiled four goals and three assists. Midfielder Kathleen Notos (jr. Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) registered four goals and two assists.

Attack Jen Garavente (fr. Monroe Twp., NJ/Monroe Twp.) added two goals and two assists. Attack Sara Keating (jr. Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair) found the net twice. Attack Jillian Nealon (so. Whitehouse Station, NJ/Hunterdon Central) and midfielders Lauren Pigott (fr. Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) and Alex Spark (so. Harvey Cedars, NJ/Southern Reg.) all contributed with one goal. For Rowan, midfielder Alli Dickey (sr. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) and defender Nicole Valianti (sr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) both scored once.

TCNJ took 31 shots and Rowan had six. Lions’ goalie Mary Waller (sr. Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) made one save. In the Profs’ net, goalie Lindsay Barrie (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) stopped five shots in 43:43, while goalie Kerry Pehnke (jr. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) turned away four shots in 16:17.

Jaeger converted a free position shot at 1:10 in the first period to give TCNJ a 1-0 lead. Garavente added an unassisted goal at 6:30. Dickey’s free position goal at 8:05 cut the deficit to one (2-1). The Lions scored the next six goals for an 8-1 advantage at 14:18. Mitchell, Notos and Jaeger each had two goals in the stretch. Valianti recorded an unassisted goal at 15:42 and the Profs trailed by six (8-2). TCNJ closed out the half with seven straight goals to go ahead, 15-2 at the intermission. Spark, Notos, Pigott, Jaeger, Garavente, Nealon and Mitchell all had one goal.

In the second period, Keating found the net on a feed from Jaeger at 31:05. Notos (33:37) and Keating (35:13) added one goal apiece to increase the lead to 16 (18-2). The Lions ended the game with goals by Jaeger (39:53) and Mitchell (46:18).

Rowan plays at home on Thursday, April 14 against Eastern University at 6 p.m.
