CHESTERTOWN, MD – Attack Corinne Ziccardi scored the game-winning goal 1:05 into the second overtime to give Washington College (MD) a 10-9 victory over Rowan University in a nonconference game on Saturday.
Rowan (1-1) was ahead, 9-7 with 10:54 remaining in the second period. Ziccardi (so. Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) had an unassisted goal at 51:53 to bring the Shorewomen within one (9-8). With 1:25 left, midfielder Rachel Bartee (jr. Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) found the net with an assist from attack Sarah Cannon (sr. Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) to send the game in to overtime. After the first scoreless period, Ziccardi cut down the middle of the arc and scored the game-winner at 67:06.
Ziccardi finished the game with three goals and one assist. Attack Kalli Parrish (jr. Timonium, MD/McDonogh School) added three goals. Cannon totaled one goal and one assist, while midfielders Marissa Restaino (so. Media, PA/Penncrest), Ann Eickelberg (jr. Amityville, NY/St. John the Baptist) and Bartee all scored once.
For Rowan, midfielder Michelle Lubrano (jr. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) tallied four goals. Attack Vicky Sucharski (fr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) registered two goals and one assist. Attack Trish Harrington (sr. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) compiled two goals, while attack Ellen Brigham (so. Oakton, VA/Oakton) had one. Attacks Marissa Micciche (fr. Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) and Caitlin Ravel (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) both collected one assist.
Washington (3-0) took 39 shots and Rowan had 25. Goalie Stephanie Seibert (so. Clear Spring, MD/Mercersburg Academy (PA)) made 10 saves for the Shorewomen. Profs’ goalie Lindsay Barrie (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) turned away 17 shots.
Rowan took a 1-0 lead at 1:19 in the first half on an unassisted goal by Brigham. Washington scored three straight to go ahead, 3-1. Cannon (2:36), Parrish (3:31) and Eickelberg (17:28) all had one goal. Back-to-back goals by Lubrano (22:28) and Harrington (25:58) on free positions made the score, 3-3 at the intermission.
The Shorewomen opened the second period with three consecutive goals to take a 6-3 lead. Restaino (30:58), Parrish (33:13) and Ziccardi (36:12) each found the net once. Rowan pulled within one (6-5) after goals by Sucharski (36:43) and Lubrano (42:26). Parrish’s free position goal at 43:10 extended the advantage to two (7-5). Harrington scored with an assist from Sucharski at 43:39. Lubrano added two straight goals at 46:00 and 48:54 to put the Profs up by one (8-7). Micciche connected with Sucharski at 49:06 to make the score, 9-7.
