GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team defeated Moravian College, 5-1 on Wednesday. 

Midfielder Nina Fragoso (jr. Frankville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) scored two goals, while midfielder Evynn Wright (sr. Marlton, NJ/Eastern Reg.) added a goal and an assist. Forward Morgan Muracco (jr. Sewell, NJ/Paul VI) and midfielder Dayna Sakalsky (so. Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) each had one goal. Midfielder Christie Fink (sr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), forward Veronica Rhea (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) and back Kayla Leahey (fr. Keansburg, NJ/Warwick Valley (NY)) added one assist apiece. Moravian’s goal was an own goal.

Rowan (7-3) outshot Moravian (3-7-1), 24-4. Goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini (jr. Elmer, NJ/A.P. Schalick) recorded two saves in 76:37 in the Profs’ net. Goalkeeper Jillian Brannan (sr. Saddle Brook, NJ/Saddle Brook) played 13:23. Greyhound goalie Genevieve Chaleff (so. Cranford, NJ/Cranford) made eight saves.

After trailing 1-0, the Profs responded with five unanswered goals. Sakalsky scored on a breakaway after a pass from Leahey at 29:53. Wright added an unassisted goal after scoring from the six at 35:02. Rowan went into halftime leading 2-0. Fragoso scored back-to-back goals at 53:14 and 56:14. Her second goal came on a penalty kick after Rhea was fouled inside the 18. Muracco’s goal (72:46) came after two beautiful passes from Wright and Rhea that left her wide open in front of the net.
