GRANTHAM, PA -- #6 Rowan defeated #8 Messiah, 1-0, on Wednesday in a matchup of two teams ranked in the IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches top 10.
Sara Wiedeman's goal in the 31st minute was the difference in the game as the senior netted her fifth tally of the season.
Bella Moore registered the assist as she intercepted a pass in the Falcon half and found a streaking Wiedeman on the right side of the box. Wiedeman's one touch went far post to beat Messiah keeper Ellie Ockrin to put the Profs (5-0) on the scoreboard.
Enya Carthy saw seven Messiah shots and recorded one save in the team's third-straight shutout. Carthy's save came in the first half, as the senior snuffed out an attempt from the left inside the box.
Ockrin finished with two stops for the Falcons (3-2-2).
Rowan returns home this Saturday, welcoming Lebanon Valley on Senior Day. First kick is slated for 5 p.m.
