SALISBURY, MD – The Rowan University field hockey team fell to number one ranked Salisbury University, 4-0 on Wednesday evening. 

The Sea Gulls are undefeated with an 11-0 record.  The Profs, ranked 13th, are 8-4 on the season.  Forwards Caitlin Walker (sr. Fallston, MD/Fallston) and Kristina Fusco (jr. Forest Hill, MD/Fallston), back Tara McGovern (sr. Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland) and midfielder Courtney Webster (sr. Chance, MD/Washington) each scored one goal.  Forward Karen Cindea (fr. Spring Lake, NJ/Manasquan), Fusco and Webster all registered an assist.

Salisbury totaled 17 shots while Rowan had seven.  Goalie Anna Cooke (sr. Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Pioneer) made one save for her fifth shutout on the season.  For the Profs, goalie Jen Goldberg (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) stopped three shots in 56:43.  Goalie Lisa Apt (sr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) played 13:17 and turned away one shot.  

All of the Sea Gulls’ goals came in the second half.  McGovern started the scoring at 44:44 with a blasting shot from the top of the corner with a pass from Fusco.  Walker had a bouncing shot from the top of the circle for the second goal (51:39).  Fusco scored at 56:37 with and assist from Webster.  With 2:32 remaining, Webster recorded the final goal on a cross from Cindea.

Next, Rowan hosts conference opponent Montclair State University on Saturday, October 8 at 1 p.m.
