Rowan Defeats Host William Paterson, 3-0

WAYNE, NJ – The Rowan University field hockey team defeated host William Paterson University, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Profs, ranked 16th in the nation, have a 10-5 record with a 3-1 conference mark.  The Pioneers drop to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Rowan was ahead 2-0 after the first half.  Back Janice Camlin (sr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) started the scoring at 9:30.  She hit the left side of the cage with a shot on the ground.  Midfielder Erin Bernat (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) followed 1:13 later with an unassisted goal.  Forward Brittany Phillips (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Delsea Reg.) had the final goal with 1:22 remaining.  She knocked in a pass from back Lauren Conner (sr. Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.). 

The Profs compiled 21 total shots while the Pioneers took five.  Goalie Jen Goldberg (jr. Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) made three saves for her third shutout on the season.  William Paterson goalie Kellye Statz (so. Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) turned away nine shots. 

Next week, Rowan travels to Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, October 19 for a 5 p.m. game.
