STEVENSON, MD – Forward Lauren Ross scored five goals in Rowan University’s 8-0 shut out at Stevenson University on Saturday.
The Profs also had one goal apiece from midfielders Julie Cairone (jr. Medford, NJ/Shawnee) and Ashley Adams (jr. Erial, NJ/Timber Creek Reg.) and forward Nicole Valianti (sr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood). Rowan, ranked 13th in the nation, has a 5-3 record while Stevenson is 4-6 overall.
The Profs collected 29 shots while the Mustangs had zero. Goalies Lisa Apt (jr. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) and Steph Colombo (fr. Moorestown, NJ/Camden Catholic) played 49:36 and 20:24 respectively in the Rowan cage. For the Mustangs, goalie Kara Zimmerman (sr. Odenton, Md/Arundel) stopped eight shots in 35 minutes. Goalie Kelsi Zimmeran (so. Odenton, MD/Arundel) made one save in 35 minutes.
The Profs scored four goals in each half. Adams started the scoring at 1:23. Cairone followed at 13:23 with a penalty stroke goal. Ross (sr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester) ended the period with two straight goals at 22:03 and 28:38. She started the second half with her third (36:12) and fourth (56:59) goals. Valianti made the score 7-0 at 67:51 and less than a minute later Ross recorded the final goal. Ross has 12 goals on the season.
Rowan returns home on Tuesday, September 28 against Ramapo College in a 7 p.m. conference game.
