GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team won its first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game of the season against Ramapo College, 19-5 on Thursday night.

The Profs have a 5-4 record and the Roadrunners are 6-3 overall with a 2-2 conference mark. Rowan was led by attack Tori Hart (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) with four goals and one assist. Midfielder Trish Harrington (jr. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) followed with three goals and one assist. Attack Ellen Brigham (fr. Oakton, VA/Oakton) added three goals, while midfielder Michelle Lubrano (so. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) had two.

Attack Alayna Morris (sr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) registered two goals and one assist. Attack Lauren Yee (jr. Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham) totaled two goals and four assists. Midfielder Nicole Valianti (jr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) and attacks Julie Angelini (fr. Forked River, NJ/Lacey Twp.) and Caitlin Ravel (fr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) all scored once. Defenders Tara Dinn (jr. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) and Shannon O’Brien (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) and Ravel each had one assist.

For Ramapo, attack Christina Cigolini (so. Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) found the net twice. Attacks Amanda Barretta (so. Roseland, NJ/West Essex), Adrianna Tepedino (fr. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) and Jessica Long (so. Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) contributed with one goal apiece.

Rowan took 33 shots, while Ramapo had 13. Profs’ goalies Lorraine Young (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) and Kerry Pehnke (so. W. Windsor, NJ/W. Windsor-Plainsboro N.) each played a half and turned away three shots apiece. Roadrunners’ goalie Megan Tierney (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) made four saves in 40:47 and goalie Amanda Ferry (fr. Gloucester City, NJ/Gloucester City) stopped three shots in 19:13.

The Profs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period after goals by Hart (2:25) and Lubrano (3:30). Ramapo cut the deficit to one (2-1) following an unassisted goal by Barretta at 4:26. Rowan scored the next seven points to pull ahead (9-1) at 16:31. Harrington tallied three goals, while Valianti, Morris, Yee and Lubrano each had one. Long scored on a free position shot at 22:16. Ravel answered with a free position goal at 23:13 and Brigham hit the net at 26:59 and 28:03 to give the Profs a 12-2 halftime advantage.

In the second, Rowan had five consecutive goals in 17:30 for a 15 point lead (17-2). Hart scored three times, while Brigham and Yee each had one goal. Cigolini had back-to-back unassisted goals at 50:10 and 58:06 to make the score, 17-4. Angelini scored at 58:37 and Tepedino had a free position goal at 58:59. With six seconds left, Morris found the net on a feed from Dinn.

Rowan continues it conference schedule at Kean University on Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m.
