CAMDEN, NJ – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 18-3 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Thursday night.

The Profs improve to 9-5 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Scarlet Raptors have a 3-7 overall record and a 0-5 NJAC mark. Rowan was led by attacks Alayna Morris (sr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) and Tori Hart (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) with three goals apiece. Midfielder Alli Dickey (jr. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) tallied two goals and two assists, while attack Leah Hershey (jr. Glen Rock, PA/Susquehannock) posted two goals and one assist. Midfielder Trish Harrington (jr. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) collected one goal and three assists.

Defender Shannon O’Brien (fr. Kendall Park, NJ/South Brunswick) found the net twice. Attack Lauren Yee (jr. Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham) contributed with one goal and one assist. Midfielder Michelle Lubrano (so. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) and attacks Ellen Brigham (fr. Oakton, VA/Oakton) and Julie Angelini (fr. Forked River, NJ/Lacey Twp.) all recorded one goal. Midfielder Nicole Valianti (jr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) registered one goal and two assists.

For Rutgers-Camden, attack Annalise Strojan (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill W.) compiled two goals. Midfielder Lequida Joseph (jr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) chipped in with one goal.

Rowan out shot Rutgers-Camden, 28-7. Profs’ goalie Kerry Pehnke (so. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) made one save in 46:37 and goalie Lorraine Young (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) stopped two shots in 13:23. Scarlet Raptors’ goalie Rachel Powell (fr. Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill E.) turned away five shots.

The Profs went ahead 3-0 in the first eight minutes. Yee, Hart and Morris each had a goal. Dickey (11:38) and Brigham (12:28) both found the net to push the lead to 5-0. Dickey, Morris, Lubrano and Hart scored one goal apiece for a 9-0 advantage at 22:10. Rowan closed the half with four straight goals, one each by Valianti, Hart, Angelini and Harrington, to go up, 13-0 at the intermission.

Strojan scored on a free position shot at 35:08 in the second period to put Rutger-Camden on the board. O’Brien (36:16) and Strojan (43:15) exchanged goals to make the score, 14-2. The Profs scored four consecutive goals to increase the lead to 16 points (18-2). Hershey found the net twice, while O’Brien and Morris had one goal apiece. Joseph scored the Scarlet Raptors’ final goal with five seconds remaining.

Rowan hosts the University of Scranton on Thursday, April 29 at 4:30 p.m. Rutgers-Camden plays Centenary College on Tuesday, April 27 at 4 p.m.
