Rowan Comes Back To Win 13-12 At Eastern With Goals By Dickey

ST. DAVIDS, PA – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team came back to win 13-12 over host Eastern University on Wednesday.

In the second half, the Profs trailed 12-10 after attack Grace Griffith (jr. Amherst, MA/Amherst Reg.) scored on a free position with 20:36 remaining. Midfielder Alli Dickey (jr. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) cut the deficit to one (12-11) with a goal at 47:40 on a pass from attack Lauren Yee (jr. Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham). Dickey went on to score the tying goal with 9:53 left and she recorded the game-winner 52 seconds later.

Dickey ended the game with four goals and attack Alayna Morris (sr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) contributed with five. Midfielders Nicole Valianti (jr. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood), Michelle Lubrano (so. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross), Trish Harrington (jr. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) and attack Tori Hart (sr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each hit the net one time. Attack Ellen Brigham (fr. Oakton, VA/Oakton), Yee and Valianti had one assist apiece.

For the Eagles (2-6), Griffith totaled five goals. Midfielder Jess Field (jr. East Greenwich, RI/East Greenwich) registered two goals and two assists. Attack Allie Fultz (so. Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) and midfielder Kendall Rood (fr. Doyleston, PA/Central Bucks East) each scored twice and midfielder Kelly Dando (so. West Chester, PA/Henderson) had one goal. Attack Krystal Cairns (sr. Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) chipped in with two assists.

Eastern totaled 27 shots and Rowan compiled 24. Profs’ goalie Kerry Pehnke (so. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) turned away nine shots. Eagles’ goalie Kristy Getsay (so. Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin E.) made eight saves in 40:19 while goalie Lindsey Corbitt (fr. Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) played 19:41.

Eastern was ahead 8-6 after the first half. Griffith started the game with two straight goals and Morris followed with two that tied the game at 6:58. Field (8:22) and Rood (9:56) each had an unassisted goal for a 4-2 advantage. Harrington scored at 11:41 and the Profs trailed by one (4-3). Field tallied a free position goal (12:05) and she assisted on Fultz’s goal (13:01). Lubrano’s goal came on a free position at 16:04. Griffth put Eastern up by three (7-4) with an unassisted goal (17:39). Rowan rallied with two straight goals, one apiece by Morris (19:41) and Hart (22:16). Griffith had the final goal of the period (28:27) with a free position shot.

In the second half, Rood had an unassisted goal at 31:02. Dickey (32:45) and Valianti (34:19) each found the net to pull within one (9-8). Dando put Eastern up by two goals (10-8) with an assist from Field at 35:02. Morris answered with two straight goals in a 10 second span that tied the score at 10 with 23:36 left. Eastern responded with two of its own to lead 12-10. Fultz (37:28) and Griffith (39:24) each had one then Dickey followed with three straight for the win.

Next, Rowan (4-2) travels to Drew University on Saturday, April 3 for a noon game.
