GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University women’s soccer team had a 2-0 victory over William Paterson University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday.

Rowan improves to 6-1-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference. William Paterson has a 3-4-2 record and a 1-1-1 NJAC mark. This week, the Profs were ranked third in the South Atlantic Region and 23rd in the nation.

Profs’ forward Jess Babice (jr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) recorded one goal and one assist. She leads the team with 20 points (nine goals and two assists). Forward Veronica Rhea (so. Pennsauken, NJ/Paul VI) added one goal.

Rowan took 22 shots, while William Paterson had three. Goalkeeper Sarah Volkomer (sr. Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) made two saves for her third shutout. Pioneers’ goalkeeper Meaghan Baker (sr. Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) stopped eight shots.

After a scoreless first half, Babice put Rowan ahead 1-0 with an unassisted goal at 45:31. Rhea found the net at 60:38. Babice took a shot and Rhea knocked the rebound into the net.

Rowan hosts Richard Stockton College in a NJAC game on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 p.m.
