SALISBURY, MD – The Salisbury University field hockey team had a 4-0 shutout over visiting Rowan University.

Midfielder Kristina Fusco (fr. Forest Hill, MD/Fallston) and forward Beverly Beladino (sr. Putnam Valley, NY/Putnam) each scored two goals. Forward Lauren Correll (sr. Bridgeville, DE/Sussex Tech) contributed with two assists and back Tara McGovern (so. Yorktown Heights, NJ/Lakeland) added one.

The Sea Gulls, ranked second in the nation, have a 7-1 record. The Profs drop to 3-3 on the season. In this week’s poll, Rowan was ranked 12th. Goalie Anna Cooke (so. Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Pioneer) made one save for her first shutout on the season. In the Profs’ goal, Lisa Apt (so. Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) stopped four shots.

Fusco scored the first goal at 3:24 with an assist from McGovern. In the second half, Beladino made it 2-0 (44:57) with a long cross from Correll. At 59:08, Fusco found the cage a second time. Beladino ended the scoring at 61:13 and Correll had the assist.

Rowan is back at home on Saturday, September 26 against conference opponent Montclair State University at 1 p.m.
