SCRANTON, PA – The Rowan University women’s lacrosse team defeated the University of Scranton, 15-2 in a nonconference game on Thursday night.

Rowan improves to 7-7, while Scranton has a 7-6 record. The Profs were led by attacks Alli Dickey (so. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) and Lauren Crennan (sr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) with three goals and one assist apiece. Midfielder Kelly Angstadt (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) followed with two goals and three assists. Attacks Tori Hart (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Lauren Yee (so. Mendham, NJ/Mendham) and midfielder Carly Welsh (sr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) all found the net twice. Attack Alayna Morris (jr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) tallied one goal and one assist and midfielder Ali Goodman (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) dished one assist.

For the Royals, midfielder Kristen Pickell (so. Ambler, PA/Wissanickon) and defender Katie Slade (so. Buckingham, PA/Central Bucks E.) each recorded one goal. Midfielder Diana Rocklein (sr. Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) collected one assist.

Rowan out shot Scranton, 30-18. Goalie Alicia Mannino (sr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) made eight saves in the Profs’ net. Royals’ goalie Cassie Murphy (jr. Wantagh, NY/MacArthur) stopped seven shots.

The Profs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first 5:27. Welsh got things started with a goal 25 seconds into the first period. Three seconds later, Dickey followed with a free position goal. Welsh’s second goal came at 3:27. Dickey (4:33) and Crennan (5:27) each had a goal. Angstadt and Yee found the net at 14:26 and 17:21 respectively for a 7-0 advantage. Scranton got on the scoreboard with a goal by Pickell at 17:55. Rowan closed out the half with goals by Morris (18:45) and Yee (25:33) to go ahead 9-1 at the intermission.

Slade registered a goal at 37:23 in the second period to trail 9-2. Rowan closed out the game with six straight goals. Crennan and Hart both found the net twice, while Angstadt and Dickey each scored once.

Rowan hosts Ursinus College on Tuesday, April 28 at 6 p.m.
