GLASSBORO, NJ – Midfielder Carly Welsh totaled nine points to lead Rowan University to an 18-4 victory over Kean University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Thursday night.

Welsh (sr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) recorded five goals and four assists. Attacks Lauren Crennan (sr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts), Tori Hart (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape), Alli Dickey (so. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) and midfielder Alli Goodman (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each contributed with two goals. Goodman also had two assists. Midfielder Trish Harrington (so. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) compiled one goal and one assist. Midfielders Michelle Lubrano (fr. Delanco, NJ/Holy Cross) and Kelly Angstadt (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.), attack Alayna Morris (jr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) and defender Annette Merlino (sr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) all found the net once.

Rowan improves to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Kean has a 2-7 record with a 0-2 NJAC mark. For the Cougars, attack Amanda South (so. Fairless, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) registered three goals. Attack Nicole Torre (fr. Toms River, NJ/Toms River N.) chipped in with one goal.

The Profs out shot the Cougars, 36-14. Rowan goalie Kerry Pehnke (fr. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) made two saves in the first half. Goalie Alicia Mannino (sr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) turned away three shots in the second period. Goalkeeper Gina Petrizzo (fr. Hopatcong, NJ/Hopatcong) was in Kean’s net for the first 12:26 and stopped two shots. Goalie Sabrina Vargas (fr. Elizabeth, NJ/ENET #27 (Argentina)) recorded 10 saves in the final 47:34.

Rowan went up 2-0 with goals by Hart (4:35) and Angstadt (8:48). Kean cut the deficit to one (2-1) on a free position goal by South. The Profs scored three straight to lead 5-1 at 12:26. Welsh found the net twice and Harrington had one goal. South’s goal at 14:06 made the score 5-2. Rowan ended the half with six straight goals for an 11-2 halftime advantage. Crennan and Welsh each scored twice, while Hart and Dickey had one goal apiece.

In the second period, the Profs had three consecutive goals in the first three minutes to extend their lead to 14-2. Dickey, Welsh and Morris all had one goal. Torre found the net at 37:52 and Goodman added a goal at 39:04. South’s final goal came at 41:15. Rowan closed out the game with goals by Goodman (42:50), Lubrano (44:05) and Merlino (57:27).
