RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini College women’s lacrosse team held on for a 14-11 win over Rowan University on Thursday night.
Attack Erin Nollen (jr. West Chester, PA/Springfield) led the Cavaliers with five goals. Attacks Amanda Alexandrowicz (sr. Ridley, PA/Ridley), Kristen Vernon (so. West Chester, PA/West Chester E.) and Jaime O’Hanlon (so. Springfield, PA/Springfield) each scored twice. O’Hanlon also had two assists. Attacks Jacqueline McDermott (fr. Secane, PA/Ridley) and Danielle Rothermel (jr. Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert’s) and midfielder Kellie Levy (jr. Westminster, MD/Francis Scott Key) added one goal apiece.
For the Profs, midfielder Carly Welsh (sr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) scored three goals. Attacks Kelly Angstadt (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Lauren Crennan (sr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) and midfielder Ali Goodman (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) all had two goals. Midfielder Trish Harrington (so. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) compiled one goal and three assists. Attack Tori Hart (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) contributed with one goal and one assist.
Cabrini has a record of 9-3 while Rowan is 6-7 overall. Kate Schmid (jr. Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert’s) turned away 14 shots for the Cavaliers. Prof goalies Alicia Mannino (sr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) and Kerry Pehnke (fr. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) made five and one save respectively.
In the first half, the Profs were ahead 2-0 after Angstadt (1:47) and Welsh (3:22) scored. The Cavaliers came back with six straight goals in a six minute span. Vernon and O’Hanlon each scored two goals while Nollen and Rothermel had one apiece. Angstadt made the score 6-3 with a goal at 10:46 with an assist from Crennan. Cabrini followed with a free position goal by Nollen (14:53) and one goal by Levy (17:24). Rowan ended the period with three unanswered goals to trail 8-6 at the break. Welsh, Crennan and Goodman each hit the net one time.
The Cavaliers had a 12-6 advantage when they started the final period with four goals, three from Nollen and one by McDermott. The Profs made the score 12-9 after Harrington (37:06), Hart (39:18) and Crennan (41:17) scored. Alexandrowicz had an unassisted goal with 15:09 left. The Profs pulled within two goals (13-11) after goals by Welsh (46:59) and Goodman (48:23). Alexandrowicz tallied the last goal of the game (51:01).
Next week, Rowan hosts Catholic University on Monday, April 20 at 6 p.m.
