FDU-Florham Wins14-13 in Overtime Against Rowan

MADISON, NJ – Attack Kristen Schuster scored the winning goal for the FDU-Florham women’s lacrosse team in a 14-13 overtime victory against Rowan University on Tuesday.

Schuster (jr. Centereach, NY/Centereach) recorded the game winner on a free position shot with seven seconds left in overtime. With one second remaining in regulation, midfielder/attack Breana Kilpatrick (fr. Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) tied the score at 12 for the Devils with a free position goal. In the overtime, attack Amanda Wayne (sr. Bellport, NY/Bellport) had an unassisted goal at 2:21 into the six minute overtime that put FDU up by one (13-12). Attack Tori Hart (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) tied the score with an unassisted goal 23 seconds later.

Wayne ended the game with seven goals while Schuster and Kilpatrick each had two. Midfielder Lindsey Parent (so. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) contributed with one goal and two assists. Midfielders Erin Reilly (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Erika Depelteau (so. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor) added one goal apiece. Reilly also assisted on one goal.

For the Profs, Hart totaled four goals and one assist. Midfielder Trish Harrington (so. Mahwah, NJ/Suffern (NY)) followed with three goals while attacks Kelly Angstadt (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) and Lauren Crennan (sr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) both had two goals and one assist. Attack Alli Dickey (so. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) and midfielder Carly Welsh (sr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) each hit the net one time. Midfielder Ali Goodman (so. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Welsh registered two assists apiece.

FDU-Florham improves to 7-4 on the season and Rowan has a 6-6 record. The Devils out shot the Profs, 36-28. Goalies Christine Dunn (sr. Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) and Kelly Butler (so. Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater) had one and three saves respectively for FDU. Rowan goalie Alicia Mannino (sr. Richboro, NJ/PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) stopped 16 shots.

Rowan started the game with two straight goals, one by Dickey (:58) and Harrington (7:11). Wayne put FDU on the scoreboard with a free position goal at 7:26. The teams traded goals before Angstadt had an unassisted goal at 17:08 for a 4-2 advantage. The Devils tied the score with goals by Wayne (20:57) and Kilpatrick (22:01). The Profs took the lead on Harrington’s unassisted goal (24:05) and Schuster tied the score (26:50) at five. Hart scored at 27:09 with an assist from Goodman to go ahead 6-5 at the intermission.

In the second half, Hart put the Profs up 8-6 with a goal assisted by Goodman at 37:47. Again FDU scored twice, tying the game at eight. Wayne (37:58) and Parent (38:29) both had unassisted goals. Rowan responded with three straight goals, Harrington (43:26), Hart (47:57) and Welsh (49:53), which made the score 11-8.

The Devils cut the deficit to one (11-10) after Wayne and Depelteau each scored with a free position shot. Crennan’s unassisted goal at 55:45 gave the Profs a two-point advantage (12-10). Wayne scored unassisted with 2:40 remaining in the period before Kilpatrick’s tying goal.

Rowan travels to Cabrini College on Thursday, April 16 for a 6:30 p.m. game.
