SAN ANTONIO, TX – Top ranked Hamilton College (NY) had a 17-9 victory over Rowan University on Thursday. The game was played at Trinity College (TX).
Hamilton improves to 3-1, while Rowan has a 2-2 record. The Continentals were led by attack Kaillie Briscoe with five goals. Attack Hilary Saverin added four goals and midfielders Ashley Allen and Liz Rave each had two. Attack Kriti Dave recorded one goal and one assist. Attacks Audrey Nebergall and Anne Graveley and midfielder Sarah Bray contributed with one goal apiece.
For Rowan, midfielder Carly Welsh (sr. Allenwood, NJ/Wall) and defender Nicole Valianti (so. Oaklyn, NJ/Collingswood) both scored two goals. Attack Lauren Crennan (sr. Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) posted one goal and one assist. Attacks Alli Dickey (so. Stevensville, MD/Kent Island), Tori Hart (jr. Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) and Alayna Morris (jr. Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington Reg.) and midfielder Kelly Angstadt (sr. Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) all found the net once. Defender Tara Dinn (so. Tabernacle, NJ/Seneca) provided one assist.
Hamilton took 27 shots, while Rowan had 25. Continentals’ goalie Kate Fowler played the first 36:24 and Sam Elie was in the net for 23:36. Fowler and Elie each made six saves. Goalies Alicia Mannino (sr. Richboro, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) and Kerry Pehnke (fr. West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro N.) played 24:11 and 35:49 respectively for the Profs. Pehnke compiled three saves.
The Continentals went ahead 4-0 in the first 8:16 of the game. Saverin scored the first two goals and Briscoe and Bray each had one. Dickey’s goal at 9:05 put the Profs on the scoreboard. Briscoe found the net for the second time at 13:30. Welsh’s goal at 14:46 cut the deficit to three (5-2). Briscoe scored at 16:40 and Valianti recorded a goal nine seconds later. Hamilton closed out the period with four straight goals. Rave, Graveley, Allen and Saverin each had one. The Continentals were ahead 10-3 at the intermission.
In the second half, Hamilton scored the first three goals to increase its lead to 13-3. Briscoe registered two goals and Rave had one. For the Profs, Crennan had a goal at 36:24 and Allen answered with a score at 37:59 for the Continentals. After goals by Welsh (39:25) and Saverin (43:05), Hamilton was up 15-5. Rowan got three consecutive goals from Valianti (50:17), Morris (52:12) and Angstadt (53:27) to come within seven (15-8). Nebergall and Dave found the net at 54:17 and 55:47 respectively. Hart closed out the scoring with a goal at the 50 second mark.
