GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan notched its fifth-straight win and fourth-straight sweep with a 3-0 victory (32-30, 25-20, 25-18) over Haverford Saturday afternoon at Esby Gymnasium.
Game Highlights
Abby Chadwick tied a season high with 14 kills while
Jessica Smart kicked in 11 as the Profs (7-2) battled through a super tight first set to wear down the Fords in the three-set win.
Defensively,
Gabriella Cooper collected 20 digs and
Abigail Bivona recorded five total blocks (two solo). Bivona also added six kills. Cooper,
Hutton Cordrey, and
Raven Albrecht each served up three aces respectively.
In that first set, the teams combined for 18 ties and nine lead changes where Rowan fought back from set-clinching points on four occasions. A late 6-1 run from Haverford broke a 17-17 tie before the home team rattled off six points in a row to re-tie the game at 23-23. Chadwick registered seven of her kills in the set.
Bivona notched both solo blocks in the second set including the clincher to help Rowan go up, 2-0.
A 10-2 run midway in the third set was the difference in putting the Profs ahead for good en route to the win.
Elizabeth Cella led the Fords with a match-best 17 kills and five aces.
Rowan returns to action on Tuesday with a non-conference tilt at Cairn.
