GLASSBORO, NJ -- TCNJ hit a bucket at the buzzer to sink Rowan, 61-60, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference clash Wednesday night at Esby Gymnasium.
The Lions' Amanda Baylock led all scorers with 27 points, including the final eight points of the contest that capped a wild fourth quarter that saw five ties and three lead changes all within the final five minutes of the period.
Haley Selmer led the Profs in scoring for the third-straight game as the junior netted 12 points. Rookie
Megan Donelson nearly had a double-double (nine points/nine rebounds) while
Charlotte Carlies pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds.
The Profs (7-6, 3-3 NJAC) scored first four points of second stanza, to take its first lead of the game on
Natalia Barrera bucket underneath (15-14). The teams went into the locker room at the half tied at 24-24.
In the third, the Profs led throughout, getting its largest lead 40-33 with just under three minutes in the stanza. McFadden's late three pulled TCNJ (5-8, 4-2 NJAC) to 40-38 where the scoring stretch from the visitors extended into the fourth. A 14-6 run gave the Lions a 49-46 lead with seven minutes to in the contest.
Jess McLaughlin's big trifecta was part of a 14-4 run in the final frame to lead 60-53 with 1:33 to go.
Baylock connected on a pair of threes in the final minute to cut it to one. TCNJ would get the ball back after an offensive foul with 21 seconds remaining. After a jump ball off the first TCNJ attempt went back to the visitors showing two ticks on the clock, Baylock hit the game-winner from the left baseline.
Rowan will look to rebound this Saturday when the team travels to Ramapo in NJAC action beginning at 3 p.m.
