Women's Basketball Battles Past Ramapo, 57-50

MAHWAH, NJ -- Rowan held off a late push from Ramapo as the Profs nailed down a 57-50 New Jersey Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon on the road.

Jess McLaughlin scored 11 points in the win as the senior and Emily Poulas each connected on three three-pointers on the day. Poulas finished with a personal best nine points as well. Natalia Barrera filled out the stat sheet, notching eight points, seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal.

Barrera scored five points of a 7-0 run late in the first quarter before the Roadrunners hit two free throws for a 15-12 Prof lead.

McLaughlin's three with 4:15 in the second kick started an 11-0 spurt to close out the stanza for a 10-point lead at the break (31-21).

Now in the third quarter, Jes Mastriano put together the final six points of the frame for Rowan, helping the visitors to a 48-34 advantage heading into the fourth.

Emma Cartwright led Ramapo with a game-high 14 points. Mastriano finished with eight points and five boards.

Poulas' triple with just over six minutes to play gave the Profs its largest lead of the contest, 53-36. Ramapo used a 12-4 stretch over the next five and a half minutes to climb within seven, but Rowan was able subdue the Roadrunners for the NJAC win.

Next up for the Profs is a matchup at Stockton on Wednesday, January 14th in a 5:30 first tip.
