GLASSBORO, NJ - Taz Cantey scored a game-high 27points to lead Rowan to a 77-51 win over William Paterson in NJAC men's basketball action at Esby Gym. It marks the second win in a row for the Profs as they go above .500 in the conference at 7-6, and improve to 7-13 overall.
Cantey connected on 11-for-15 from the field to set a new season-high while recording his sixth game of 20-plus points. Brycen Williams chipped in with 12 points as he converted 6-of-12 field goals. Khalil Baker added 10 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
Rowan took control right away in the first half, using an early 9-0 run to take a 13-9 lead. Consecutive baskets by Williams and a layup from Khamai Orange gave the Profs their first double-digit lead, 25-12 with 6:02 to play in the half. Cantey's three-pointer with :30 to go sent Rowan into intermission with a 32-19 lead.
The Profs stretched their lead to 20 points, 51-31, with 12 minutes left in the second half and used a 15-0 run with back-to-back three's from Chris McCarron, to build it up to 56-31.
William Paterson (6-14; 1-12) made a run in the final six minutes, closing to 64-48, but the Profs answered back with a 13-0 run, that included five points from Jordan Jones, to close out the game.
Rowan shot 49 percent in the game and forced William Paterson into 30 turnovers.
The Profs will head to Kean on Wednesday and then return home on Saturday, February 7th, to host Ramapo on "Senior Day".
